About Dawn Bowery
Dawn Bowery is a photographer specialising in travel and portraiture. With a technical and creative background, her career in film and television visual effects has resulted in several promax/BDA industry awards and nominations for BAFTA and Academy Awards in visual effects for Babe2 and Hollow Man. As an artist, Dawn is now combining her years of professional experience with her passion for photography and travel.
Through a natural empathy for her subject Dawn's image entice the viewer into often unseen worlds, whilst her elegant aesthetic awareness brings a classic sense of composition with a unique treatment of colour. Her collections of fine art include photographs taken in New York, Arizona, Cuba, China, and England. Together, the images weave an intimate narrative of a rich and deeply textured world. Her
work fuses a deeply personal approach with the visual grammar of the travelogue and modern digital imaging techniques.
Dawn's work has been exhibited alongside Antony Gormley RA, Mary Fedden RA, and Ken Howard RA at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Portland Gallery, London. Recent exhibitions include the Los Angeles Art Association and the Tricycle Theatre in London. Her work is in private collections in the USA, UK and Australia.
Her photograph "Essaouira Street" was selected for the Royal Academy of Arts Summer exhibition 2009 and was recently purcahsed by Jon Snow, ITN Newsreader, at a charity auction in London.
Dawn’s was amongst the six finalists in last years Wanderlust Travel Photographer of the year competition who were selected from over 10,000 entries.
Now living in Los Angeles Dawn has had her work exhibited at the California Open at the TAG gallery and is a member of the Los Angeles Art Association.
Dawn undertakes various commissions and is also working on her upcoming coffee table book: “California Dreaming: Real life stories of Brits in LA”. The book features a range of inspiring British people and combines stunning environmental portraits with real life stories of their journey so far.
